New boardwalk for Charleston Lake Provincial Park portage

Charleston Lake Provincial Park portage boardwalk
There has been, for the past 3,000 years or so, a portage across a narrow neck of land between Charleston Lake and Red Horse Lake. The portage area is now in Charleston Lake Provincial Park. Just this week, the Trail Crew of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, headed by John MacLeod, and with help from both the Park and its Friends group, completed a long section of boardwalk on what were very often wet and muddy sections of the 400 metre trail. This will make the portage easier, but will also help prevent damage to that fragile landscape.
